Instrument Cluster: Removal
- Before proceeding, See AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Record pre-set radio frequencies for reprogramming. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Leave negative battery cable disconnected. Set parking brake. Tilt steering wheel fully down. Set gearshift lever to "1" position.
- Insert 2 Radio Removing Tool (415-001/T87P-19061-A) into integrated control panel face plate. Push tools in about 1.5" (38 mm) to release retaining clips. Apply light spreading force on tools and pull integrated control panel out of instrument panel. Disconnect wiring and temperature control sensor hose and elbow (if equipped).
- Remove 2 bolts and instrument panel lower steering column cover. Remove ash tray from center finish panel. Remove screws, disconnect electrical connectors and remove center finish panel. Cover end of thin tool with tape to prevent damage to headlight switch. Insert thin tool into slot at bottom of headlight switch and pull switch from instrument cluster finish panel. Disconnect electrical connectors and remove switch.
- Remove 3 instrument cluster finish panel retaining screws and remove panel. Disconnect traction control switch electrical connector (if equipped). Remove 4 instrument cluster retaining screws. Pull top of instrument cluster toward steering wheel. Disconnect instrument cluster electrical connectors. Remove instrument cluster from instrument panel.
