For Diagnostics (Seat Removed)

  1. Record pre-set radio frequencies for reprogramming. Disconnect negative battery cable. Also, disconnect any auxiliary batteries and power supplies (if equipped). Wait at least one minute for back-up power supply to deplete stored energy.
  2. Remove lower steering column opening cover. Disconnect Yellow 4-pin lower clockspring connector. See Fig 1 . Connect Air Bag Simulator (418-F403) to vehicle harness side of lower clockspring connector.
  3. Remove passenger-side air bag module. See PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect Air Bag Simulator (418-F403) to vehicle harness side of passenger-side air bag module connector (in place of air bag). See Fig 2 .
    NOTE: Air bag simulator for driver (418-F405) and passenger (418-F407) seat belt pretensioners are similar but NOT interchangeable. Ensure correct tool is installed on correct connector.
  4. Remove driver-side and passenger-side front seats. See FRONT SEAT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect Air Bag Simulator (418-133) to vehicle harness side of each side air bag floor connector. Connect Air Bag Simulator (418-F405) to driver-side 10-pin floor connector. Connect Air Bag Simulator (418-F407) to passenger-side 10-pin floor connector. Connect negative battery cable.

NOTE: Used the following procedure when diagnosing seat systems other than side air bags or seat belt pretensioners. Air bag simulators must be connected to side air bag and pretensioner floor connectors.
