Electrical System

Air bag system is powered from the battery through ignition circuit. The system maintains crash discrimination and deployment functions for 6 minutes after the ignition is turned off. The system can function with ignition switch in any position, including OFF and LOCK. System can also function when driver-side and passenger-side seats are unoccupied. The 3 main functions performed by electrical subsystem are: detecting an impact, switching electric power to air bag module igniters, and monitoring system readiness.
