Oil Pan: LS: Installation

- Clean all of the sealing surfaces.
- Position a new gasket on the pan.
- Apply a 10 mm (0.40 in) dot of Silicone Gasket and Sealant to the oil pan gasket in the indicated position.
- Gently pry the subframe down and install the oil pan.
- Position the oil pan and install the studs and bolts.
- Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
- Install the transmission-to-oil pan bolts.
- Position the wiring harness on the stud and install the nut.
- Install the transmission cooler tube bracket nut.
- Install the RH subframe bolts.
- Install the LH subframe bolts.

Install the LH and the RH engine mount nuts.
- Install the RH lower control arm through bolt.
- Install the LH lower control arm through bolt.
- Install the steering gear. For additional information, see STEERING GEAR .
- If equipped, install the electronic thermactor air (ETA) bracket bolts.
- Install the A/C compressor. For additional information, see COMPRESSOR - 3.0L .
- Install the RH front splash shield.
- Install the front center splash shield.
- Tighten the oil pan drain plug.
- Install the generator. For additional information, see GENERATOR .
- Remove all of the special tools.
- Install the upper radiator sight shield.
- Install the air cleaner outlet tube.
- Fill the engine crankcase with clean engine oil.
- Check the vehicle alignment. For additional information, see WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS & ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES - CARS .
CAUTION:
The oil pan must be installed and the bolts tightened within four minutes of the sealant application.
NOTE:
Fasteners No. 4 and No. 9 are studs.
