Oil Pan: LS: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Clean all of the sealing surfaces.
  2. Position a new gasket on the pan.
  3. CAUTION: The oil pan must be installed and the bolts tightened within four minutes of the sealant application.

  4. Apply a 10 mm (0.40 in) dot of Silicone Gasket and Sealant to the oil pan gasket in the indicated position.
  5. Gently pry the subframe down and install the oil pan.

  6. NOTE: Fasteners No. 4 and No. 9 are studs.

  7. Position the oil pan and install the studs and bolts.
    • Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
  8. Install the transmission-to-oil pan bolts.

  9. Position the wiring harness on the stud and install the nut.

  10. Install the transmission cooler tube bracket nut.

  11. Install the RH subframe bolts.

  12. Install the LH subframe bolts.

  13. NOTE: LH shown; RH similar.

  14. Install the LH and the RH engine mount nuts.

  15. Install the RH lower control arm through bolt.

  16. Install the LH lower control arm through bolt.

  17. Install the steering gear. For additional information, see STEERING GEAR .
  18. If equipped, install the electronic thermactor air (ETA) bracket bolts.

  19. Install the A/C compressor. For additional information, see COMPRESSOR - 3.0L .
  20. Install the RH front splash shield.

  21. Install the front center splash shield.

  22. Tighten the oil pan drain plug.

  23. Install the generator. For additional information, see GENERATOR .
  24. Remove all of the special tools.

  25. Install the upper radiator sight shield.

  26. Install the air cleaner outlet tube.
  27. Fill the engine crankcase with clean engine oil.
  28. Check the vehicle alignment. For additional information, see WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS & ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES - CARS .
