Front Cover: LS: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove valve covers. See VALVE COVER . Remove belt idler pulley. Remove generator. Remove water pump. See WATER PUMP . Disconnect upper and lower hoses from radiator.
  2. Remove oil pan. See OIL PAN . Remove power steering pump. Remove hydraulic cooling fan pump. Remove bolt and belt tensioner. Remove crankshaft front oil seal. See CRANKSHAFT FRONT OIL SEAL .
  3. Remove the bracket. Disconnect camshaft position (CMP) sensor and crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connectors. Remove fuel supply manifold bolt. Remove front cover bolts in sequence. See Figure. Remove front cover and front cover gasket. Clean front cover and cylinder block mating surfaces.
