Turn the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position.
Depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM article.
Remove the multi-function switch. For additional information, refer to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
Install the ignition lock cylinder and remove the key.
Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.

Disconnect the clockspring electrical connectors.

Disconnect the brake shift interlock electrical connector.

CAUTION: Make sure that the ignition lock cylinder has been re-installed and the key is removed to prevent column rotation or damage to the clockspring can result.

Remove and discard the steering column intermediate shaft bolt.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (19 lb-ft).
Remove the 4 nuts and the steering column.
- To install, tighten to 15 Nm (12 lb-ft).

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Repower the SRS. For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM article.
