Gasoline engines

  1. Position the exhaust intermediate pipe and connect the rubber isolator.
  2. NOTE: Using an abrasive pad, clean the exhaust coupling surface area of any surface rust.

  3. Place new couplings on the catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe joint or catalytic convert delete pipe-to-exhaust intermediate pipe joint and the exhaust intermediate-to-muffler joint. Make sure the couplings are installed no more the 4 mm (0.15 in) from the back of the button on the end of the pipe.
  4. Align the exhaust system. For additional information refer to Exhaust System Alignment  in this article.
  5. Tighten the exhaust intermediate pipe-to-catalytic converter coupling or exhaust intermediate pipe-to-catalytic converter delete pipe coupling.
    • Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).
  6. Tighten the exhaust intermediate pipe-to-muffler coupling.
    • Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).
