Starter Motor: Removal

WARNING: When performing maintenance on the starting system, be aware heavy gauge leads are connected to the battery. Make sure protective caps are in place when maintenance is complete. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
  2. Remove the starter solenoid protective cap.

  4. Label and disconnect the starter motor electrical connections.

  6. Remove the 2 top starter mounting bolts.
  7. Remove the lower starter bolt and the starter.
