Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes: Removal

  1. If not done previously, carry out the transmission fluid cooler flow test procedure. For additional information, refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - 4R70E/4R75E article.
  2. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
  3. Remove the bolts and the skid plate (four wheel drive [4WD] vehicles).

  5. Remove the fasteners and position the air deflector aside.

  7. Disconnect the fluid cooler tubes from the transmission case.
  8. Remove the secondary latches from the fluid cooler tubes.
  9. Remove the fluid cooler tubes from the bracket.
  10. Remove the cooler tubes from the retainer.
  11. Using the special tool, disconnect the fluid cooler tubes from the radiator, and if equipped, the fluid cooler.
