Test B: Theft Indicator Is Always/Never On-Theft Indicator Will Not Prove Out

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) or Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS/WDS tester, enter instrument cluster active command mode. If active command mode can be entered, go to next step. If active command mode can not be entered, perform TEST A: NO COMMUNICATION WITH INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  .
  2. Using NGS/WDS tester, trigger instrument cluster active command WARNING LAMPS AND CHIME to ON. If THEFT indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If THEFT indicator illuminates, system is okay at this time. Verify concern with customer.
  3. Remove anti-theft LED. Measure resistance between anti-theft LED terminals in both directions. Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms in one direction and 10-20 ohms in the other. If resistance is as specified, replace instrument cluster. If resistance is not as specified, replace anti-theft LED.
