WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lincoln Mark LT and 2007 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
  1. N1 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE INDICATOR FLASHER RELAY
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Indicator Flasher C2047
    • Measure the voltage between the indicator flasher relay C2047-3, circuit 10 (LG/RD), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
    1. YES  : Go to  N3.
    2. NO  : VERIFY the central junction box (CJB) fuse 2 (20A) is OK. If OK, go to  N2 .
  2. N2 CHECK CIRCUIT 10 (LG/RD) FOR AN OPEN
    • Observe the rear lamps while applying and releasing the brake pedal.
    • Do the rear stoplamps operate correctly?
    1. YES  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : REFER to Stoplamps  in this article.
  3. N3 CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) FOR AN OPEN
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Measure the resistance between the indicator flasher relay C2047-5, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.
    • Fig 2: Checking Circuit 57 (BK) For An Open

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
    1. YES  : Go to  N4.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. N4 CHECK CIRCUIT 385 (WH/RD) FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
    • Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202c
    • Measure the resistance between the multifunction switch C202c-1, circuit 385 (WH/RD), harness side and the indicator flasher relay C2047-4, circuit 385 (WH/RD), harness side; and between the multifunction switch C202c-1, circuit 385 (WH/RD), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the multifunction switch and the indicator flasher relay; and greater than 10,000 ohms between the multifunction switch and ground?
    1. YES  : Go to  N5.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. N5 CHECK THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Carry out the multifunction switch component test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING.
    • Is the multifunction switch OK?
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new indicator flasher relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. TEST the system for normal operation.
