Exhaust Intermediate Pipe: Installation

CAUTION: Do not tighten the fasteners until all components are assembled and aligned, making sure to tighten all fasteners beginning at the front of the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Exhaust System Alignment  in this article.
    NOTE: Using an abrasive pad, clean the exhaust clamp surface area of any surface rust.
    NOTE: Whenever the exhaust intermediate pipe-to-muffler assembly clamp is loosened, a new exhaust intermediate pipe and clamp assembly must be installed.
  1. Position the exhaust intermediate pipe and clamp assembly to the muffler and tailpipe.
  2. NOTE: Using an abrasive pad, clean the exhaust coupling surface area of any surface rust.
    NOTE: Whenever the exhaust Y-pipe - dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe coupling is loosened, a new exhaust Y-pipe - dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe coupling must be installed.
  3. Loosely slide the exhaust Y-pipe - dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe coupling.
  4. Align the exhaust system and tighten the exhaust system clamps. For additional information refer toExhaust System Alignment  in this article.
