Removal And Installation

- Disconnect the crankcase breather hose.
- Remove the bolt and position the oil level indicator and tube assembly aside.
- Remove the nuts and the engine lifting eye.
- To install, tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb-ft).
- Using the special tool, with a twisting motion, disconnect the 3 spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
- To install, lubricate the inside of the spark plug boots with silicone brake caliper grease and dielectric compound.
- Disconnect the 2 spark plug wire retainers and position the spark plug wires aside.
- Remove the 3 bolts, the 2 stud bolts and the LH valve cover.
- To install, tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb-in).
- Remove and discard the LH valve cover gasket.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install a new LH valve cover gasket.
CAUTION:
Spark plug wires must be connected to the correct spark plug. Mark the spark plug wires for assembly reference.
CAUTION:
It is important to twist the spark plug boots while pulling upward to avoid possible damage to the spark plug wires.
