Oil Pan: Removal

CAUTION: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan can cause engine failure.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
  2. Remove the starter. For additional information, refer to STARTING SYSTEM article.
  3. Drain the engine oil. Install the drain plug when finished.
    • Tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).
  4. Remove the 4 bolts and the crossmember.
  5. Remove the 3 oil pan-to-transmission bolts.
    6. NOTE: The 2 oil pan-to-engine front cover bolts are unique and must be installed in the correct positions.
  6. Remove the 17 bolts and the oil pan.
  7. Remove and discard the oil pan rear seal.
