Transfer Case Shift Motor

  1. With the ignition in the ON position, switch the mode select switch (MSS) to 4H.
  2. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
  3. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
  4. Disconnect the harness connector.
  5. Remove the bracket bolt and the 3 mounting bolts, then remove the transfer case shift motor.
    • Remove the shifter shaft seal.
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Apply a coat of multi-purpose grease to the transfer case shift motor.
