P0335 - Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2007 Ford RV Cutaway, 2007 Ford Pickup, 2007 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2007 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2007 Ford Econoline. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
P0335 - CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR A CIRCUIT

Description:  The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the crankshaft position (CKP), camshaft position (CMP) and injection control pressure (ICP) signals during engine cranking. The DTC is set when the CKP signal is inactive while the CMP and ICP signals indicate the engine is rotating. The PCM also monitors the CKP signal for electrical noise. When the electrical noise exceeds the calibrated threshold the DTC sets.
Possible Causes:
  • CKP circuit noise
  • CKP circuit open in the harness
  • CKP circuit short to ground in the harness
  • CKP circuit short to voltage in the harness
  • CKP sensor
Diagnostic Aids:  An inactive CKP signal causes a no start condition. Monitor the RPM PID while cranking engine. A 0 RPM indicates a CKP concern.
