Removal and Installation

- Hold the steering wheel in the straight forward position using a suitable holding device.
- Remove the pinch bolt and detach the intermediate shaft from the steering column yoke.
- Discard the bolt.
- Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, see JACKING & HOISTING .
- Remove the pinch bolt and detach the coupler.
- Discard the bolt.
- Remove the intermediate shaft.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
CAUTION:
Do not allow the steering wheel to rotate while the steering column intermediate shaft is disconnect or damaged to the clockspring can result. If there is evidence that the wheel has rotated, the clockspring must be removed and recentered. For additional information, see CLOCKSPRING CENTERING
