Test G: Speedometer/Tachometer Is Inoperative

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Ford Mustang and 1999 Ford Mustang. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Instrument cluster receives vehicle speed signal from Powertrain Control Module (PCM) through the Standard Corporate Protocol (SCP) bus circuit. PCM receives vehicle speed signal from output shaft sensor.

Perform dealer test mode. See DEALER TEST MODE  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If fuel gauge operated properly during "GAGE" portion of test, repair vehicle speed input from PCM (retrieve codes from PCM). See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If fuel gauge did not operated properly during "GAGE" portion of test, replace instrument cluster.
