Seat Backrest - Front, With Seat Integrated Restraints (SIR): Installation

    NOTE: Discard the 2 front seat backrest pivot bolts and install new bolts.
    NOTE: Do not overtighten bolts during installation.
  1. Position the seat backrest at 30 degrees forward of the vertical position. As the seat backrest is lowered into position, route the recliner cable through the slot on the outboard riser. Install the 2 new front seat backrest pivot bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  2. Install the front seat backrest recliner bolt and the safety belt anchor nut and the seat backrest recliner cable.
    1. Attach the recliner cable to its 2 attachment points.
    2. Rotate the seat backrest into design position and install the front seat backrest recliner bolt.
      • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
    3. Place the safety belt anchor plate over the bolt tip, making sure the anti-rotation tab is in the riser slot and install the safety belt anchor nut.
      • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  3. NOTE: The pivot bolt is susceptible to backing out of the joint when tightening the safety belt buckle attachment nut. Make sure the pivot bolt remains seated to the seat track.
  4. Place the safety belt buckle over the pivot bolt, align the anti-rotation pin to the seat track and install the nut.
    • Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  5. Install the front seat cushion. For additional information, refer to SEAT CUSHION - FRONT, WITH SEAT INTEGRATED RESTRAINTS (SIR) .
