Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - TorqShift: Installation

  1. Install the inlet and outlet tubes from the auxiliary transmission fluid cooler OTA and radiator in-tank reservoir.
    1. Install the cooler tube clips.
    2. Connect the inlet and outlet tubes to the radiator in-tank reservoir.
    3. Connect the hose and install the constant tension clamp to the auxiliary transmission fluid cooler OTA outlet tube.
    4. Connect the hose and install the constant tension clamp to the auxiliary transmission fluid cooler OTA filter return inlet tube.

  2. Install the secondary latches.

  3. Install the remote mount transmission fluid filter bracket.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  4. Install the fluid cooler tubes, the fluid cooler tube bracket and the fluid cooler tube bracket nut.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

  5. Connect the transmission cooler inlet and outlet tubes to the remote mount fluid filter housing.

  6. Install the 4 secondary latches.

  7. Install the fluid cooler tubes in the front and rear cooler tube case fittings.
    • Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  8. CAUTION: Use only MERCON® SP Transmission Fluid to service the TorqShift transmissions. Mixing MERCON® or MERCON® V in a TorqShift transmission may cause transmission damage. Use of any fluid other than the recommended fluid can cause transmission damage.
  9. Fill the transmission with clean automatic transmission fluid.
  10. Check for leaks.
