Pinpoint Test D: No Power In Start

- D1 CHECK THE VOLTAGE SUPPLY TO THE IGNITION SWITCH
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250.
- Measure the voltage between ignition switch C250, harness side, and ground as follows:TERMINALS VOLTAGE CHART
Ignition Switch C250 Circuit C250-2 325 (DB/OG) C250-9 1050 (LG/VT) - Are the voltages greater than 10 volts?
Yes : GO to D2.
No : Verify that CJB fuse 103 (30A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit 1050 (LG/VT) for an open.
Verify that CJB fuse 116 (30A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit 325 (DB/OG) for an open.
TEST the system for normal operation.
- D2 CHECK CIRCUIT 16 (RD/LG) FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between ignition switch C250-1, circuit 16 (RD/LG), harness side and CJB C270c-4, circuit 16 (RD/LG), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes : GO to D3.
No : REPAIR circuit 16 (RD/LG) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
- D3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1522 (DG) FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between ignition switch C250-5, circuit 1522 (DG), harness side and CJB C270b-8, circuit 1522 (DG), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes : GO to D4.
No : REPAIR circuit 1522 (DG) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
- D4 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH
- Carry out the Ignition Switch Continuity Check.
- Does the ignition switch test OK?
Yes : REFER to STARTING SYSTEM - GASOLINE ENGINES or STARTING SYSTEM - DIESEL ENGINE to diagnose the starting system.
No : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to IGNITION SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
