Removal and Installation

CAUTION:
While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of contaminants or premature failure of the power steering components can result.
- Using a suitable suction device, drain the power steering fluid reservoir.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Remove the lower power steering pump bolt.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Disconnect the pressure line-to-pump fitting.
- To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
- Disconnect the pressure line-to-steering gear fitting and remove the pressure line.
- To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Fill the power steering system. For additional information, refer to STEERING SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
NOTE:
Thoroughly clean all foreign material from the threads.
NOTE:
To prevent fluid leakage, be sure to insert the pressure line into the quick connect before positioning the pressure line bracket and tightening the lower power steering pump bolt.
