Oil Pan: Removal

    All vehicles 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Remove the air cleaner and intake pipe. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
  3. Remove the generator. For additional information, refer to GENERATOR AND REGULATOR .

    4. Manual transmission vehicles 

  4. Remove the flywheel. For additional information, refer to FLYWHEEL .

    5. All vehicles 

  5. Drain the engine oil.
  6. Remove and discard the oil filter.

  7. Remove the threaded shaft and position the oil cooler aside.

  8. Disconnect the engine oil temperature (EOT) sensor electrical connector.

  9. Remove the 2 bolts and position the cooling fan shroud onto the cooling fan.

  10. Install the special tools.

    11. Manual transmission vehicles 

    CAUTION: Only use hand tools when loosening the LH engine mount nuts or damage to the engine mount can occur.
    NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.

  11. Loosen the 3 LH engine mount nuts and remove the 3 RH engine mount nuts.

    12. Automatic transmission vehicles 

    CAUTION: Only use hand tools when removing the RH engine mount nuts or damage to the engine mount can occur.
    NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.

  12. Remove the 6 RH and LH engine mount nuts.

    13. All vehicles 

  13. Remove the nut and the starter wiring harness support bracket.

  14. If equipped, remove the nut and position the transmission oil cooler lines and bracket aside.

  15. Using the special tools, raise the engine.

    16. Manual transmission vehicles 

  16. Using a suitable jack, raise and support the rear of the cylinder block.

    17. All vehicles 

  17. Remove the 16 bolts and partially lower the oil pan.
  18. Remove the 3 bolts and position the oil pump screen and pickup tube into the oil pan.
  19. Remove the oil pan and the oil pump screen and pickup tube.
    • Inspect the oil pan gasket for damage.
    • Discard the oil pan gasket.
    • Discard the oil pump screen and pickup tube O-ring seal.
