Wheel and Tire - Single Rear Wheel (SRW): Removal

WARNING: Only use the correct wheel nut for the application. Incorrect nuts can come loose and result in wheel separation from vehicle and loss of vehicle control. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury to vehicle occupant(s).

If equipped, remove the wheel cover.

CAUTION: Do not use heat to loosen a seized wheel nut. Heat can damage the wheel and wheel bearings.

NOTE: Do not remove the wheel nuts at this time.

With the weight of the vehicle still on the tires, loosen the wheel nuts.
With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
Remove the wheel nuts.
Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
