Econoline (Fuel Tank Solenoid Valve Functions Normally)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Ford Pickup, 2000 Ford Econoline, and 2000 Ford Contour. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: The following procedures are required to be used when venting fuel from the fuel tanks to remove fuel tanks. On vehicles equipped with an extended range fuel tank, the jackscrew can be reached through an access hole in the vapor retaining cover.
NOTE: All fuel tank solenoid valves must be in the locked down position.
  1. Turn manual lockdown valve jackscrew inward on fuel tank solenoid valve(s). See Figure. Perform LPG FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE (FUEL LINE VENTING)  procedure. Disconnect fuel fill line from fuel fill valve. Connect Venting Hose (134-00118) and adapter to fuel fill line. See Fig 1.
  2. Connect Fuel Filler Neck Venting Kit (134-00117) to fuel venting hose and adapter. See Fig 3. Connect venting hose assembly to fuel filler neck venting kit. Connect venting hose assembly to an approved vent stack.
  3. Connect Grounding Cable (134-00121) to fuel fill line connection. See Fig 2. Connect grounding cable to ground rod. Remove fuel pump relay from battery junction box located in engine compartment. Connect a jumper wire between fuel pump relay terminals No. 30 and 87. See Figure and Figure .
  4. Slowly open the manual lockdown valve jackscrew on the fuel tank solenoid valve of the fuel tank to be vented. See Figure. Observe gauge pressure of fuel filler neck venting kit. Pressure should be tank pressure if fuel tank solenoid valve was identified as functioning normally. Slowly open bleed valve on fuel filler neck venting kit and allow contents of LPG fuel tank to vent through vent stack. Venting may take more than an hour.
  5. Close bleed valve on fuel filler neck venting kit and observe gauge pressure. Pressure should be about zero psi (zero kg/cm2 ). Repeat this procedure until all affected fuel tanks are vented. Install fuel fill line onto the fuel fill valve when completed.
