Clutch System Bleeding

CAUTION:
Brake fluid is harmful to painted or plastic surfaces. Do not spill brake fluid onto painted or plastic surfaces. If spilled, wipe up immediately.
- Check the fluid level of the brake/clutch reservoir. Fill the reservoir with the specified fluid to the MAX mark.
- Position the vehicle on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Remove the 7 splash shield bolts and 1 pushpin, then remove the splash shield.
- Remove the bleeder screw cover and attach a rubber hose to the bleeder screw. Place the other end of the rubber hose into a clear container partially filled with the specified brake fluid.
- Have an assistant depress and release the clutch pedal 5 to 7 times. Fully depress the clutch pedal to the floor and hold down.
- With the clutch pedal depressed, loosen the bleeder screw until fluid and air escape the system. With the clutch being held to the floor, tighten the bleeder screw. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 until no air comes from the rubber hose.
- Tighten the bleeder screw.
- Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in)
- Check the fluid level of the reservoir. Fill the reservoir with the specified fluid to the MAX mark. Install the reservoir cap.
- Depress and release the clutch pedal several times.
- Test the clutch system for normal operation.
