Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern.
  2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.
    VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

    Mechanical Electrical
    • Power window regulator
    • Window run weather-strip
    • Door window glass
    • Battery junction box (BJB) fuse 107 (40A)
    • BJB circuit breaker 602 (20A)
    • Central junction box (CJB) fuse(s):
      • 11 (10A)
      • 26 (10A)
      • 32 (10A)
    • Driver Door Module (DDM)
    • Window control switch
    • Window regulator motor
    • Rear window defrost relay
    • Rear window defrost switch
    • Heated rear window grid
    • Antenna module
    • Loose, corroded connectors
  3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
  4. If the cause is not visually evident, connect the scan tool to the data link connector (DLC) and select the vehicle to be tested from the scan tool menu. If the scan tool does not communicate with the vehicle:
    • check that the diagnostic card is correctly installed.
    • check the connections to the vehicle.
    • check the ignition switch position.
  5. If the scan tool still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the scan tool operating manual.
  6. Carry out the scan tool data link test. If the scan tool responds with:
    • CAN, SCP, or ISO circuit fault; all electronic control units, no response/not equipped, refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
    • No response/not equipped for the DDM, refer to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
    • System passed, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs, and carry out self-test diagnostics for the DDM.
  7. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the DRIVER DOOR MODULE (DDM) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX .
  8. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, GO to SYMPTOM CHART .
DRIVER DOOR MODULE (DDM) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX

DTC Description Source Action
B1342 ECU is Defective DDM CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. If DTC B1342 is retrieved again, INSTALL a new DDM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
B1345 Heated Back Light Input Circuit Short to Ground DDM GO to PINPOINT TEST G .
B1349 Heated Back Light Relay Short To Battery DDM GO to PINPOINT TEST F .
All Other DTCs - DDM REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
