Pinpoint Test B: The Instrument Cluster Illumination Is Inoperative

B1 CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR CORRECT ILLUMINATION
- Key in ON position.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Active commands.
- Using the diagnostic tool, command the instrument cluster display dimming to full daytime brightness.
- Does the instrument cluster illuminate correctly?
Yes : GO to B3.

No : GO to B2.
B2 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
- Check for:
  - corrosion
  - pushed-out pins
- Connect the instrument cluster connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . TEST the system for normal operation.

No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
B3 CHECK FOR CORRECT LCM OPERATION
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect all vehicle LCM connectors.
- Check for:
  - corrosion
  - pushed-out pins
- Connect all LCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern is still present?
Yes : INSTALL a new LCM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.

No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
