The injection control pressure (ICP) sensor is a variable capacitance sensor that is supplied a 5-volt reference signal from the powertrain control module (PCM) producing a linear analog voltage signal that indicates pressure.

The PCM monitors the ICP sensor signal to control the injection pressure regulator (IPR) duty cycle. The PCM modulates the IPR based on the ICP signal to adjust the injector timing and injection pressure providing optimum fuel delivery at all speed, load, and temperature conditions.
