Restraints Control Module (RCM): Removal

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Remove floor console. See FLOOR CONSOLE  . Remove rear vent duct.
  2. On models equipped with automatic transmission, disconnect and separate shifter interlock cable and casing from shifter assembly. See Figure . Remove shifter assembly retaining bolts and position shifter assembly aside.
  3. On all models, remove 2 rear vent duct extensions from under center of instrument panel. Remove 3 RCM mounting bolts. Slide and disengage RCM harness connector locking clips, depress locking tab and disconnect connectors from RCM. Remove RCM from vehicle. See Figure .
