Removal & Installation

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Apply parking brake. Place manual transmission gearshift lever in 4th gear or automatic transmission gearshift lever in Neutral. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  2. Remove ashtray finish panel and disconnect electrical connectors. Remove manual transmission gearshift lever knob, if equipped. Disconnect cellular telephone electrical connectors, if equipped. Remove console finish panel assembly by pulling upward at front of finish panel.
  3. Disconnect traction control switch electrical connector and release cellular telephone wiring harness from console finish panel assembly, if equipped. Pull rearward on console rear finish panel assembly and remove. Unclip parking brake boot from console base. Remove 4 console assembly mounting screws. Remove console air conditioning duct mounting screw. Slide console assembly rearward and remove console. To install, reverse removal procedure.
