Test U: Right Side Air Bag Circuit Short To Battery Or Ignition (DTC B1996): Description

Restraints Control Module (RCM) checks right side air bag module circuit for shorts to battery by monitoring connector C310B, terminals No. 5 (Red/Black wire) and No. 6 (Black/Red wire). If RCM detects a short to battery, it will store Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B1996 in memory and flash Code 37 on AIR BAG warning light.
