Possible Causes

A no communication with RCM condition could be caused by damaged Gray wire (circuit No. 4-EE1), damaged DLC, damaged scan tool or RCM internal fault.
- Check RCM connector for damage
Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access RCM and disconnect harness connector C310A. See RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE (RCM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Inspect RCM harness connector C310A, terminal No. 5 (Gray wire) for damage. See Figure . If no damage is found, go to next step. If damage is found, repair/replace as necessary. Reconnect air bag system. Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. - Check DLC for damage
Inspect DLC and DLC terminal No. 7 (Gray wire) for damage. See Fig 1 . If no damage is found, go to next step. If damage is found, repair/replace as necessary. Reconnect air bag system. Activate air bag system. - Check circuit for open
Measure resistance between RCM harness connector C310A, terminal No. 5 and DLC terminal No. 7 (Gray wire). See Figure & Fig 1 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace RCM. Reconnect air bag system. Activate air bag system. Clear all DTCs. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in gray wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Reconnect air bag system. Activate air bag system. Clear all DTCs.
