Removal and Installation

All vehicles

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
2. Remove the engine air cleaner outlet tube. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .

   Vehicles equipped with 3.9L engine

3. Drain the engine coolant. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
4. Release the clamp and disconnect the upper radiator hose.

   Vehicles equipped with 3.0L engine

5. Clamp off the 3 heater hoses at the dual coolant control valve.

   All vehicles

6. Release the dual control valve hose clamp and disconnect the hose.
7. Release the LH heater hose clamp and disconnect the hose.
8. Release the RH heater hose clamp and disconnect the hose.
9. Disconnect the dual coolant control valve electrical connector.
10. Remove the dual coolant control valve bolt.
11. Remove the dual coolant control valve.
12. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Clean and lubricate the coolant hoses with plain water only, if needed.
13. Fill the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
