Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Remove the cowl vent screen. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .
  3. Remove the 7 bolts and the cross-vehicle support.
    • To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
  4. Detach the crankcase vent tube pin-type retainer from the upper intake manifold.
  5. Disconnect the crankcase vent tube fittings and remove the tube.
  6. Disconnect the 2 intake manifold tuning (IMT) valve electrical connectors.
  7. Remove the 4 IMT valve bolts and the IMT valves.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
    • Inspect and install new O-ring seals as necessary.
  8. CAUTION: The IMT valve must be fully seated in the intake manifold prior to installing the bolts, or damage to the IMT valve can occur.
    NOTE: Coat the IMT valve with clean engine oil before installing it in the intake manifold.
  9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
