Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Remove the intake manifold. For additional information, refer to ENGINE - 3.9 .
  3. Disconnect the cylinder head temperature (CHT) sensor electrical connector.
  4. NOTE: The tip of the CHT contacts the cylinder head at the bottom of the hole. When removed, it will be slightly crushed. This is a normal condition.
  5. Remove and discard the CHT.
    • To install, tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb-ft).
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • The CHT is not to be reused. Always install a new sensor.
