Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. CAUTION: The engine appearance cover is equipped with a noise suppressor. If the noise suppressor becomes separated from the engine appearance cover it must be positioned on the intake manifold prior to installing the engine appearance cover.

  3. Remove the engine appearance cover and the noise suppressor (if detached).
  4. Disconnect the 2 camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connectors.
  5. Remove the ground strap nut and position the ground strap aside.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  6. Remove the 3 nuts and position the wiring harness conduit aside.
    • To install, tighten to 8 Nm (70 lb-in).
  7. Remove the 2 bolts and the LH and RH CMP sensors.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
    • Inspect and install new O-ring seals as necessary.
  8. NOTE: Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean engine oil.
  9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
