Removal & Installation

- Remove ignition coils. See IGNITION COILS . Use compressed air to remove any foreign material from spark plug well before removing spark plugs. If an original spark plug is reused, ensure platinum tip is present and that it is installed in same cylinder from which it was taken. New spark plugs can be used in any cylinder. Remove spark plugs.
- Check and adjust spark plug gap as necessary. On 3.0L engines, spark plug gap should be .051-.057" (1.30-1.45 mm). On 3.9L engines, spark plug gap should be .039-0.043" (0.99-1.09 mm). To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten spark plugs to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
