Removal & Installation (3.9L)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. For right side ignition coils, remove air cleaner outlet tube. For left side ignition coils, remove canister purge valve cover. Remove canister purge valve bracket nuts and position valve. For both left and right side ignition coils, remove bolts and ignition coil cover. See Fig 1.
  2. NOTE: Before installation, apply silicone brake caliper grease and dielectric compound to inside of ignition coil boots.
  3. Disconnect electrical connector from each ignition coil. Remove bolts and remove ignition coils. See Fig 2. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten coil mount bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
