Removal & Installation

- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove pin-type retainers and remove engine appearance cover, if necessary. Disconnect Idle Air Control (IAC) valve harness connector.
- On 3.9L engines, disconnect air assist hose and idle air by-pass hose from IAC valve. On all models, remove bolts from IAC valve. Lift and remove IAC valve from vehicle and discard gasket.
- Engine control sensor wiring cannot be cleaned. If necessary, new wiring must be installed. Clean gasket mating surfaces. To install, reverse removal procedure. Always install a NEW IAC valve gasket. Tighten IAC valve bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
CAUTION:
To disconnect Norma type hose fittings, squeeze tabs and pull hose straight back. Failure to squeeze tabs may result in fitting damage.
CAUTION:
DO NOT use Carburetor Tune-up Cleaner (D9AZ-19579-BA) or any other type of solvent as damage to valve internal components may result.
