Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lincoln LS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    NOTE: It may be necessary to remove cowl vent screen to access Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) tube.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. If cowl vent screen removal is necessary, go to next step. If cowl vent screen removal is not necessary, go to step  3.
  2. NOTE: Cowl vent screen pin-type retainers are reusable.
  3. Remove 2 wiper pivot arm nut covers and 2 nuts and remove wiper pivot arms. Remove left and right side cowl vent screen extension panels. Disconnect windshield washer nozzle hoses from engine main wiring harness at lower right side of engine compartment. Remove 9 pin-type retainers and remove cowl vent screen. Remove 7 bolts and remove strut support brace. See Figure. Go to next step.
  4. Disconnect Differential Pressure Feedback EGR (DPFEGR) hoses from EGR tube. Disconnect DPFEGR harness connector. Loosen compression nuts and disconnect EGR tube from right side exhaust manifold and from EGR valve. Remove bolts and nuts and position wire harness brackets aside. Remove EGR tube from vehicle. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten tube flange nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
