Crankshaft Pulley: Installation

    NOTE: If crankshaft pulley is not secured within 4 minutes of sealant application the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface cleaner. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or 4 minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.

  1. Apply a bead of silicone gasket and sealant to the keyway.
  2. Using the special tool, install the crankshaft pulley.

  3. Install a new bolt and tighten in 4 stages.
    • Stage 1: Tighten to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft).
    • Stage 2: Loosen the bolt 2 complete turns.
    • Stage 3: Tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).
    • Stage 4: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.

  4. Install the oil cooler. For additional information, refer to OIL COOLER  in this article .
  5. Install the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE .
  6. Install the cooling fan assembly. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  7. CAUTION: The engine appearance cover is equipped with a noise suppressor. If the noise suppressor becomes separated from the engine appearance cover it must be positioned on the intake manifold prior to installing the engine appearance cover.

  8. Install the noise suppressor (if detached) and the engine appearance cover.
  9. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
