Pinpoint Test H: DTC C1279, C1280, C1281, C1282, C2769, C2770 - SENSOR CLUSTER FAULT

CAUTION:
Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multimeter probes.
NOTE:
The yaw rate sensor and accelerometer are integral to the sensor cluster. The sensor cluster is not serviceable and must be installed as an assembly.
- H1 CARRY OUT THE YAW RATE SENSOR RECALIBRATION PROCEDURE
- Key in ON position.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Clear DTCs.
- Carry out the yaw rate sensor recalibration procedure using the diagnostic tool.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Retrieve DTCs.
- Are any DTCs retrieved or does the recalibration procedure indicate a fault?
- Yes : GO to H2.
- No : The ABS system is operating correctly.
- H2 CHECK THE ABS MODULE YAW RATE PID
- Monitor the ABS module yaw rate PID.
- Is the ABS module yaw rate PID value between 479 and 545?
- Yes : INSTALL a new yaw rate sensor. REFER to YAW RATE SENSOR in this article . CLEAR the DTCs. RECALIBRATE the ABS module. FOLLOW the diagnostic tool directions for the calibration procedure. REFER to MODULE CONFIGURATION . REPEAT the self-test.
- No : GO to H3.
- H3 REVERIFY THE ABS MODULE YAW RATE PID
- Monitor the ABS module yaw rate PID.
- Is the ABS module yaw rate PID value between 479 and 545?
- Yes : CHECK the ABS module connector for loose or corroded pins. CLEAR the DTC. REPEAT the self-test.
- No : GO to H4.
- H4 CHECK THE VOLTAGE FROM THE ABS MODULE
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: The Yaw Rate Sensor C3073.
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between yaw rate sensor C3073-1, circuit 5-CF66 (BU/WH), harness side and yaw rate sensor C3073-5, circuit 9-CF67 (BN/RD), harness side.
- Is the voltage approximately 10 volts?
- Yes : INSTALL a new sensor cluster. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE in this article . CLEAR the DTC. REPEAT the self-test.
- No : GO to H5.
- H5 CHECK THE YAW RATE SENSOR CIRCUITRY FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between ABS module C155 pins, harness side and yaw rate sensor C3073 pins, harness side as follows:
ABS Module C155 Pin Yaw Rate Sensor C3073 Pin Circuit 7 3 7-CF67 (YE/RD) 5 5 9-CC1 (BN/RD)/9-CF67 (BN/RD) 25 1 5-CF66 (BU/WH) 29 2 4-CF66 (GY/VT) - Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to H6.
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTC. RECALIBRATE the ABS module. FOLLOW the diagnostic tool directions for the calibration procedure. REFER to MODULE CONFIGURATION . REPEAT the self-test.
- Measure the resistance between ABS module C155 pins, harness side and yaw rate sensor C3073 pins, harness side as follows:
- H6 CHECK THE YAW RATE SENSOR CIRCUITRY FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: ABS Module C155.
- Disconnect: Yaw Rate Sensor C3073.
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between yaw rate sensor C3073 pins, harness side and ground as follows:
Yaw Rate Sensor C3073 Pin Circuit 3 7-CF67 (YE/RD) 5 9-CF67 (BN/RD) 1 5-CF66 (BU/WH) 2 4-CF66 (GY/VT) - Is voltage present?
- Yes : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTC. RECALIBRATE the ABS module. FOLLOW the diagnostic tool directions for the calibration procedure. REFER to MODULE CONFIGURATION . REPEAT the self-test.
- No : GO to H7.
- H7 CHECK THE YAW RATE SENSOR CIRCUITRY FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the resistance between the yaw rate sensor C3073 pins, harness side and ground as follows:
Yaw Rate Sensor C3073 Pin Circuit 3 7-CF67 (YE/RD) 5 9-CF67 (BN/RD) 1 5-CF66 (BU/WH) 2 4-CF66 (GY/VT) - Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE in this article . CLEAR the DTC. REPEAT the self-test.
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTC. RECALIBRATE the ABS module. FOLLOW the diagnostic tool directions for the calibration procedure. REFER to MODULE CONFIGURATION . REPEAT the self-test.
