Transmission Range Sensor: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the exhaust heat shield. Index-mark the front driveshaft pinion flange before removal. See Figure . Remove the 3 nuts, washers and bolts. Slide the front shaft assembly rearward and support. See Figure . Support the transmission with a transmission jack.
    2. WARNING: Secure the transmission to the transmission jack with a safety chain. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
  2. Remove the transmission mount and lower the transmission enough to gain access to the Transmission Range (TR) sensor. See Figure . Disconnect the shift cable. Disconnect the TR sensor connector. Remove the TR sensor. See Figure .
