Control Valve Body: Removal

- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Raise and support the vehicle. Drain the transmission fluid. See DRAINING & REFILLING under LUBRICATION. Remove the converter housing plug. Remove the torque converter drain plug. See Figure .
- Remove the shifter cable bracket. See Figure . Clean the area around connector to prevent contamination of the solenoid body connector. Disconnect the transmission harness connector. See Fig 1 . Disconnect the Transmission Range (TR) sensor connector.
- Remove the transmission fluid pan and filter. See DRAINING & REFILLING under LUBRICATION. Disconnect the reverse pressure switch connector. See Fig 2 . Remove the reverse pressure switch and discard. See Fig 3 . Remove the solenoid body. See Fig 4 .
- Remove the valve body cover plate and gasket. See Fig 5 . Remove the reverse servo. See Fig 6 . Remove the manual control valve detent spring. See Fig 7 . Remove the control valve body, separator plate and gasket. See Fig 8 . Remove the intermediate clutch spring and seal. See Fig 9 .
NOTE:
The transmission fluid pan gasket is reusable. Clean and inspect for damage. If not damaged, the gasket should be reused.
