Normal Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Mercury Montego, 2005 Ford Freestyle, and 2005 Ford Five Hundred. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The wiper switch receives ground through 1205 (BK). The rear wiper motor receives ground from the wiper switch through circuit 485 (PK/BK) to operate the rear wiper wash and wipe function. The rear window wiper motor has a safety override which stops the rear wiper motor if it is operating when the liftgate is opened. The rear wiper motor monitors the position of the liftgate through circuit 700 (WH/PK), which is normally connected to ground through the liftgate ajar switch when the liftgate is closed. When the liftgate is opened, ground is disconnected from circuit 700 (WH/PK) by the liftgate ajar switch, and the rear window wiper motor stops until the liftgate is closed.
