Pinpoint Test I: The Luggage Compartment Lid Is Inoperative Using The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter: Testing

  1. I1 CHECK THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT RELEASE OPERATION FROM THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LID RELEASE SWITCH 
    • Release the luggage compartment lid using the luggage compartment lid release switch.
    • Does the luggage compartment lid release correctly? 
  2. I2 CHECK AND RECORD THE TICs 
    • Monitor the RKE transmitter TIC/DATA through the diagnostic tool menus.
    • Access PROGRAM TIC. Read the alpha-numeric codes in each of the 4 memory locations (TIC1, TIC2, TIC3, and TIC4). Record the codes.
    • Is there a TIC recorded in at least 2 of the 4 memory locations (TIC1, TIC2, TIC3, and TIC4)? 
    • Yes  : GO to I3.
    • No  : PROGRAM all the RKE transmitters. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. I3 CHECK THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LID RELEASE BUTTON ON THE TRANSMITTER 
    • Monitor the SJB LAST TIC/DATA RECEIVED while pressing and releasing the RKE transmitter luggage compartment lid release button.
    • Does an 8-digit alpha-numeric code appear for the LAST TIC RECEIVED and does the LAST DATA RECEIVED match the button pressed? 
    • Yes  : GO to  I5.
    • No  : GO to I4.
  4. I4 CHECK THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LID RELEASE BUTTON ON THE SECOND RKE TRANSMITTER 
    • Monitor the RKE transmitter TIC/DATA while pressing and releasing the RKE transmitter luggage compartment lid release button of the second RKE transmitter.
    • Does an 8-digit alpha-numeric code appear for the LAST TIC RECEIVED and does the LAST DATA RECEIVED match the button pressed? 
    • Yes  : CHECK the battery of RKE transmitter used in Step  I3. If the battery is OK, a new RKE transmitter is necessary. PROGRAM all RKE transmitters. REFER to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : GO to  I6.
  5. I5 CHECK THE TIC RECEIVED AGAINST THE RECORDED TICs AND COMPARE THE DATA 
    • Monitor the RKE transmitter TIC/DATA using the recorded alpha-numeric codes from Step  I2.
    • Is the TIC received one of the TICs recorded in Step   I2 ? 
  6. I6 CHECK BOTH TRANSMITTER TICs AGAINST THE RECORDED TICs 
    • For each RKE transmitter, monitor the TIC/DATA.
    • Compare the data with the alpha-numeric codes from Step  I2.
    • Is each of the TICs received one of the TICs from Step   I2 ? 
  7. I7 CHECK FOR SJB OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . PROGRAM all the RKE transmitters, REFER to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING . INFORM the customer that any RKE transmitters not present need to be reprogrammed. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
