Removal and Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Ford Pickup, 2005 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2005 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2005 Ford Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: New retaining bolts (W710721) must be installed, do not reuse the bolts that were removed. The retaining stud(s) and nut(s) can be reused.
NOTE: Driver side shown, passenger side similar.
NOTE: Power seat without heat control shown, power seat with heat control similar.

    All seats 

    NOTE: Passenger front inboard retainer cover shown, driver cover similar.

  1. Remove the front inboard retainer cover.
  2. NOTE: Passenger rear inboard retainer cover shown, driver similar.

  3. Remove the rear inboard retainer cover.
  4. Move the seat to its forward most position.
  5. Power seats 

    NOTE: Passenger rear outboard retainer cover shown, driver cover similar.

  6. Remove the rear outboard retainer cover.
  7. Remove the front seat.
    1. Remove and discard the three front seat riser support-to-floor retaining bolts.
    2. Disconnect the safety belt buckle electrical connector (driver only).
    3. Disconnect the seat switch electrical connector.
    4. Remove the front seat riser support-to-floor pan retaining nut.
    5. Remove the front seat.

  8. Manual seats 

  9. Remove the front seat.
    1. Remove and discard the two front seat riser support-to-floor retaining bolts.
    2. Disconnect the safety belt buckle electrical connector (driver only).
    3. Remove the two rear seat riser support-to-floor pan retaining nuts.
    4. Remove the front seat.

  10. All seats 

    CAUTION: When installing the seat, tighten the front mounting bolts, then the rear mounting bolt or nut(s).
  11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.
    • Adjust the seat to the full forward and rearward positions a few times to assure safety belt and buckle accessibility.
  12. Check the active restraint system for correct operation. For additional information, refer to SAFETY BELT SYSTEM .
