Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - 6F35: Removal

NOTE:
Automatic transmission fluids are not interchangeable. The use of any fluid other than what is recommended for this transaxle will cause transaxle damage.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Disconnect the upper transmission fluid cooler tube from the radiator.
- Remove the bolts and the splash shield.
- Remove the radiator splash shield.
- Remove the 6 screws.
- Remove the 4 retainers.
- Disconnect the lower transmission fluid cooler tube from the radiator.
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube secondary latches.
- Using the Transmission Cooler Line Disconnect Tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes.
- Release the transmission fluid cooler tube retainers and remove the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the retainers.
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube retainer and remove the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the vehicle.
- Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) and the outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING - 2.5L -- FUSION & MILAN (EXCEPT HYBRID) article or INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING - 3.0L (4V) -- FUSION & MILAN article.
- Remove the battery and battery tray. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING & CABLES -- FUSION, MILAN & MKZ article.
- Open the transmission fluid cooler tube retainers.
- Remove the 2 transmission fluid cooler tube secondary latches.
- Using the Transmission Cooler Line Disconnect Tool, disconnect and remove the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the transaxle.
NOTE:
When removing the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the retainers, do not remove the retainers from the shroud.
