Pinpoint Test C: No Power In Run

NOTE:
Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multimeter probes.
NOTE:
Verify that battery voltage is greater than 10 volts.
- C1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE ON THE IGNITION RUN CIRCUIT
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: SJB Fuse 42 (10A) (if equipped).
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between SJB fuse 42 (10A), circuit CDC34 (WH/ OG), input side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to C2 .
- No : GO to C4.
- C2 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE AT THE SJB
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: SJB C2280B.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between SJB C2280B-45, circuit CDC34 (WH/ OG), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to C3 .
- No : GO to C5.
- C3 CHECK THE SJB IGNITION SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: SJB C2280E.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between SJB C2280E-1, circuit CDC34 (WH/ OG), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- C4 CHECK THE SJB IGNITION SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: SJB C2280A.
- Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250.
- Measure the resistance between ignition switch C250-1, circuit CDC34 (WH/OG), harness side and SJB C2280A-4, circuit CDC34 (WH/OG), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to C7.
- No : REPAIR circuit CDC34 (WH/OG). TEST the system for normal operation.
- C5 CHECK THE IGNITION RUN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250.
- Measure the resistance between ignition switch C250-1, circuit CDC34 (WH/OG), harness side and SJB C2280B-45, circuit CDC34 (WH/OG), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to C9.
- No : REPAIR circuit CDC34 (WH/OG). TEST the system for normal operation.
- C6 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250.
- Measure the resistance between ignition switch C250-1, circuit CDC34 (WH/OG), harness side and SJB C2280E-1, circuit CDC34 (WH/OG), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to C9.
- No : REPAIR circuit CDC34 (WH/OG). TEST the system for normal operation.
- C7 CHECK THE IGNITION RUN CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: SJB C2280B.
- Disconnect: SJB C2280E.
- Measure the resistance between ignition switch C250-1, circuit CDC34 (WH/OG), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
- Yes : GO to C8 .
- No : REPAIR circuit CDC34 (WH/OG). TEST the system for normal operation.
- C8 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH
- Carry out the Ignition Switch component test. Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - COMPONENT TESTING -- FUSION, MILAN & MKZ (EXCEPT HYBRID) article and ENGINE CONTROLS - COMPONENT TESTING -- FUSION HYBRID, MILAN HYBRID & MKZ HYBRID article for component testing.
- Did the ignition switch pass the component test?
- Yes : GO to C10.
- No : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to IGNITION SWITCH in this service information. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C9 CHECK FOR CORRECT IGNITION SWITCH OPERATION
- Carry out the Ignition Switch component test. Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - COMPONENT TESTING -- FUSION, MILAN & MKZ (EXCEPT HYBRID) article and ENGINE CONTROLS - COMPONENT TESTING -- FUSION HYBRID, MILAN HYBRID & MKZ HYBRID article for component testing.
- Did the ignition switch pass the component test?
- Yes : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
- No : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to IGNITION SWITCH in this service information. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C10 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
- Disconnect: All SJB connectors.
- Check the SJB connectors for:
- corrosion.
- pushed-out pins.
- spread terminals.
- Connect: All SJB connectors and make sure the connectors are seated correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES -- FUSION, MILAN & MKZ article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
